Journey to Minori

Days
7 & 8

4/24 -  There was no stopping this train on day 7. We left Matera early and visited Vannulo, a buffalo farm, then it was onto the greek temples in   Paestum.  From there we arrived in Salerno and grabbed a boat to our home for the next  two nights, Minori. But first the Buffalo and Temples...

Tenuta Vannulo

4/24 -  On the journey to Minori we visited Tenuta Vannulo, a buffalo farm! The area has been in the  Palmieri name since 1907.   There are over 600 Buffalo living here, and we were told they all had their own names.  All are well cared for very well with frequent massages to get them in the mood for giving up their milk.    After the tour of the facilities we had a great lunch with Ricotta Crepes, a lot of fresh Buffalo Mozzarella, and a quite delicious yogurt for dessert. Also on the grounds were a working leather workshop and The Museum of Peasant Civilization.

The Greek Temples

4/24 -  Before we could  process our need to find Buffalo Mozzarella in the states, we found ourselves looking up at very well preserved Greek Architecture.   Here  in the  Paestum archaeological site in the Campania region are some of the best preserved Greek Temples in  the world.  The Temple of Hera, the Second Temple of Hera, and the Temple of Athena.

Boat ride to Minori

4/24 - We arrived in Salerno and caught a boat to Minori. It was amazing to see parts of the Amalfi Coast from the  Tyrrhenian Sea,  a basin of the Mediterranean.
